My Trip on the Pedennis Castle as Deck Crew

Joining a passenger ship with 500 crew was quite a shock after being used to other ships with about 40 crew. Our cabin was in the focsle head, at least 4 bunks along one side. The stewards were about 10 to a cabin.
Heading down to south africa, the things I can remember was washing and scrubing the wooden decks down early in the morning, alot of painting, a curious dissaperance of many of the deck hands, fantastic food.... I will never forget going for breakfast, the huge servery of every thing you could think of.
We went ashore at capetown (the following pictures show this) we were supprised about the severity of appartied but I won't go into details here.
We also stopped at east london, port elizebeth and durban.
On the way back i was helmsman, fantastic, huge brass wheel, plus great officers to work with.
